2005 Archieved News Sunday, July 17th, 2005 Team Muzzy wins on Thunder Mountain “the old fashioned way”. They earned it! The Team Muzzy Buell V-Twin, ridden by Ryan Schnitz, won the NHRA Mile High Nationals at Denver’s Bandimere Raceway on Sunday, July 17. This win was impressive in its’ seeming ease. The Team Muzzy Buell was first qualifier until the last qualifying round on Saturday when faster runs by Hines and Ellis moved Schnitz to 3rd. Qualifying success was an indication of things to come when Ryan dominated in each of the four Elimination rounds on Sunday dispatching serious competitors Michael Phillips, G.T. Tonglet, Chip Ellis, and Antron Brown in that order. Phillips must have known his only chance was in a perfect light, but he pushed a little too hard, red lighting against Ryan in the first round. Likewise Ryan knew that he needed to make no mistakes against Tonglet in the second round, and he came through with a .04 advantage at the green light and beat the Harley to the finish by .02 sec. In the third
round Ryan faced Ellis’ Buell, and Ryan, knowing what he was up
against, squeaked off a .007 light getting out on Ellis and pulling away
right to the finish, to put Ellis on the trailer.

It wasn’t pretty but we’ll take it! The Muzzys.com, Rob Muzzy Racing Buell V-Twin scored its’ first NHRA Powerade win Sunday May 22, at Ohio’s National Trail Raceway in Columbus. Rider Ryan Schnitz had a nice dose of racing luck on his shoulder in this, his 5th NHRA race, when Andrew Hines left a little early and red lit in the NHRA Pontiac Performance Nationals finals. The luck came into play when the Muzzy Pro Stock Buell then suffered a small shifting glitch going into third gear. Ryan backed off after having already won due to the Hines’ red light. In spite of the decidedly ugly final, the team’s winning potential was evident throughout the weekend with the Muzzys.com bike qualifying in second position with a 7.101, 186.33 pass, and then running 7.10, 7.09, and a 7.10 in eliminations on the way to Ryan and Rob’s first Wally. This puts Ryan 6th in points for the season, and The Team definitely "on the map"! Sunday, April 10th, 2005 The
first round of eliminations on Sunday at the O'Reilly Spring Nationals
pitted Team Muzzy against Shawn Gann. Ryan got away a split second after
Gann with a .048 light to Gann’s .040, but got to the line first,
putting Gann on the trailer 7.193 to Gann’s 7.292 with both bikes
running just over 182. The second round found Ryan next to eventual
winner Karen Stouffer. Bad luck struck the Muzzy Buell V twin just after
the launch when a small wire in the ignition pickup broke, killing the
rear cylinder. Team Muzzy
is actively seeking a marketing partner to share this exciting
opportunity. Friday, April 8th, 2005 Friday night qualifying at the O'Reilly Spring Nationals was a great start to this weekends event. Team Muzzy is very excited and looking forward to tomorrows qualifying sessions. With a 7.152 at 188.89 MPH and a 7.120 at 188.78 MPH, the Team Muzzy Buell is on a good start "We believe we've found the problem to our clutch slippage issues that caused us to go out early in eliminations in Gainesville." says Ryan Schnitz. "The clutch is locking up all the way down the track now. Tomorrow we plan on testing a new clutch setup to improve our 60' ET. We obviously need to work on the front half of the track to see some 7.0's this weekend" Team Muzzy had the quickest backhalfs of Fridays Qualifying Sessions along with top 1/8th mile MPH at 2.558/156.46 and 2.559/156.68 respectively. You can catch Team Muzzy and Ryan's Qualifying passes on ESPN2 Between 7:00 pm and 9:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Monday, March 21st, 2005 The 2005 version of the Rob Muzzy Racing NHRA Pro Stock Bike Drag Racing Team hit the ground running and running fast at the 2005 Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida March 17-20. The field was fast, the fastest ever in Pro Stock Bike, and the bright red, 160 cubic inch, S&S powered Muzzy Buell was firmly in the top half of the field with a 6th place qualifying slot. Things started off very well on Friday when rider Ryan Schnitz put down a clean 7.057 second run on what was only the bike’s second pass ever in an NHRA event, putting the team 8th in early qualifying. On Saturday,
The Team tried some different engine combinations in the early round
resulting in some problems and a sub-par run. In the last qualifying
session on Saturday, Schnitz turned in the second fastest run of the
session with a 7.038 second, 190.63 mph. pass, this in spite a minor
clutch problem. This run put The Team in the 6th spot going into
eliminations. The Rob Muzzy Racing Team is extremely happy with the weekend’s results. The team is more than competitive, showing that it has what it takes to win, and problems were minimal. An event win is surely in the cards this year and knowing this is very exciting for everyone involved. Monday, March 7th, 2005 Team Muzzy chose the AHDRA National at Gainesville to shake down their new V-Twin Buell. The team experienced the expected gremlins all through qualifying which prevented a complete run down the track. This had Team Muzzy working hard and putting in some late hours Friday and Saturday. Round one eliminations on Sunday brought the first complete run from A to B which resulted in a 7.089/188.4 round win and first leg of a new record. The semi round brought a 7.065/188.28 and a new Pro Gas record. A new gremlin appeared in the final making Ryan shut off early but still winning over Mike Lozano. Archived News 2006
