Having a custom map built for your fuel injected bike is the only way to get the most performance and drive ability. Custom mapping will allow you to get better fuel economy and yet still provide you with instant throttle response and top end horsepower. Here is a 2000 ZX-12 with a map that was too rich. Once properly mapped, horsepower increased as shown by the graph below.
Here is a 2001 GSXR1000 that came in severely lean. After properly mapped, horsepower and drivability improved.
